Sikkim open Yumthang valley, Lachung for Tourist

Sikkim has open its door for tourists who wants to visit Yumthang valley also knows as “Valley of Flowers” in Lachung village. State had already eased some travel restrictions at other tourist places like Nathu la, Bab Mandir and Tsomgo Lake.

This move is welcome by local tourism body who oversees tourism activity in this area. In coming days, decision will be made on opening another famous tourist Gurudongmar Lake.

Sikkim had closed its door for all tourists destination since the cases started increasing in the month of March. As per report, tourist which have fully vaccinated certificate starts coming as few hotels and homestay start operating with reduced staff and rooms.

Tourist, who will be visiting the state need a negative RT-PCR report which should not be older than 72hours and those who got there second dose are allowed to enter the state without any restrictions.

While you passes through the valley and forest, you will see snow clad mountains and heaps of waterfall for perfect photograph. The entire valley offers many picturesque spots and villages.

BEST TIME TO VISIT: The flower season is mainly from February to Mid of June, where endless flowers bloom and make this valley in the form of rainbow. During winters, valley received very heavy snowfall and most of the road get blocked. So plan your trip before temperature starting dropping down below zero degree. Please note that Inner Line permit is required while visiting this valley as area is on Indo-China border.

WHERE TO STAY:You can stay at Forest Rest house, Tourist Lodge or Rest houses with beautiful views.  

HOW TO REACH: The village is located 22kms from Chungtang and 125kms from Gangtok. One can take flight to Bagdogra airport and hire a taxi till Gangtok (04hours). If travelling by train, New Jalpaiguri is the nearest railway station which is 145kms from Gangtok city. Buses and taxis are easily available from station.
